This Privacy Policy describes how JD Simplified collects, uses, and protects your personal information.
This Privacy Policy explains what information JD Simplified collects when you use our platform, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. Information We Collect: We collect information you provide directly — email, name, school or graduation year, billing information processed by Stripe, and any content you create (notes, outlines, essays, questions you ask our study assistant). We also collect information automatically — device and browser data, IP address, pages visited, interactions with study features, and performance data tied to your practice sessions. How We Use Your Information: We use it to provide and maintain the Service, authenticate your account, deliver subscription features, personalize your practice (which topics to surface next), respond to support requests, send transactional and (if you opt in) marketing emails, and improve the platform. Automated Recommendations: The Service uses your practice history to adjust what content and questions surface for you. These are study recommendations, not automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. Sharing and Disclosure: We share data with infrastructure providers (Google Cloud, Firebase, Stripe), analytics providers used for product improvement, our Studicata partnership for shared NextGen features, our Referly affiliate program where applicable, and where required by law or to protect safety. We do not sell your personal information. Cookies and Tracking: We use essential cookies for authentication, analytics cookies (Usermaven) for attribution and product improvement, and no third-party advertising cookies. Data Security: We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit and at rest, but no system is perfectly secure. Data Retention: We retain account data while your account is active and for a limited period after closure, subject to legal and tax requirements. Your Rights: You can access, correct, export, or delete your data at any time through account settings or by contacting us. Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have specific rights including the right to opt out of certain data uses — details are in the full Policy. Children's Privacy: JD Simplified is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. Contact: See the full Policy for our contact information and how to exercise your rights.
